Serhii V. Harkavyi (Harik)

38-year-old senior soldier Serhiy Harkavyi (call sign Haryk) was killed on September 13, 2022, in the area of the town of Vuhledar, Donetsk region. He sustained fatal injuries during an artillery shelling while fighting the enemy. Serhiy was born in the village of Rozsokhuvatka, Cherkasy region. He attended school there and then enrolled in Shpolyansk Auto School. Later, he earned a degree in agronomy at the Taljankiv Agricultural Technical School. He moved to the village of Novoselytsia. He worked in the Katerynopil District Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, holding positions as an assistant district inspector and assistant operative officer of the police. After leaving the service in 2012, he became a driver for the farming enterprise "Novoselytsia." With the onset of the full-scale war, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporizhians, holding the position of senior rifleman. "Serhiy was a kind and caring man, he never left anyone in trouble. He was the best dad for his daughters," noted his wife Inna. He was buried in the village of Novoselytsia in Cherkasy region. He is survived by his mother, brother, wife, and two daughters. Posthumously, Serhiy Harkavyi was awarded the Order of "For Courage" III degree.
