Serhii V. Honcharov (Ofitser)

Senior Lieutenant Serhiy Honcharov (call sign Officer) was killed on April 19, 2022, during the defense of Mariupol in the Donetsk region. The life of the 25-year-old soldier was cut short by enemy shelling from Grad systems. Serhiy was born in the town of Vovchansk, Kharkiv region. After school, he chose a military career for himself. In 2019, he graduated from the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine. He had been interested in cars since childhood. In his free time, he loved to fish. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Serhiy served in the special forces battalion of the 21st separate brigade of the National Guard's public order protection (military unit 3011). He was the deputy commander of the anti-aircraft artillery battery. From the first days, he defended the city of Mariupol from the occupiers. "Brave, courageous, a combat officer, a patriot of his country, he always sought to protect his homeland from Russian occupiers," noted the younger brother of the fallen, Vitaliy. The officer was buried in his hometown. Serhiy is survived by his parents and brother.
