- 41-year-old soldier Serhii Honcharuk (call sign Boatswain) was killed on January 19, 2023 in a battle in the Bakhmut direction of Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission near the village of Klishchiyivka, the soldier received fatal injuries as a result of enemy mortar shelling. Serhii was from the town of Stara Synyava, Khmilnytskyi region. He studied at the Starosyniavska secondary school. Later, he graduated from a vocational school in the village of Holoskov. He worked abroad. He was a big sports enthusiast and often went to the gym. He had no bad habits, followed a healthy diet and walked a lot. With the start of the full-scale war, the man voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the ranks of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. He was a rigger of the 3rd evacuation platoon of the evacuation company of the repair and restoration battalion. "Serhii was an extraordinary person, with great willpower, exceptional decency, a real man. He was sociable and had many friends. There are always fresh flowers on his grave from them. His comrades were amazed at his discipline and love of order. In the dugouts and where they lived, everything had to be clean. 'War is no excuse to be filthy, drink and be a pig. We are Ukrainians, and that means a lot!' - Serhii used to say. He loved Ukraine extremely, associating it with his loved ones. He wanted his children to live the way they do abroad. For the state to be strong and prosperous. These are not empty words, but his desires, especially after what he experienced and saw in the war," said the deceased's wife Vitalina. The military was buried in his native town. Serhii is survived by his mother, stepfather and wife.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
