Serhii V. Horbatiuk (Zil)

Soldier Serhii Horbatiuk (call sign Zil) was killed on July 22, 2022 while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Bohorodychne in the Donetsk region. The warrior did not live 4 days until his 38th birthday. Serhii was born in the village of Yemilchyne, Zhytomyr region. There he received his education and worked. He got married, started a family and tried to do everything to improve the life of his loved ones. He dreamed of a peaceful future and made plans. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man fought for Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a soldier of the 81st separate airmobile brigade. "Serhii was a very good person, he always came to help. He loved his family. We had such a love that happens once in a thousand years. He was eager to defend the country even before the full-scale invasion, but they didn't take him. And when the great war had already begun, he finally got into the army. Despite all my pleas, he went. And we never saw him again. This is a great loss for me, for the children. We still had a whole life ahead of us, countless plans, but the inhumans destroyed everything. I and the children will remember Serhii as a wonderful dad, a wonderful family man and a good person. For his family, he is forever a Hero," said his wife Alla. The serviceman was buried in his native village. At home, his wife and children were waiting for Serhii.
