Since the beginning of the hostilities, he had repeatedly travelled to the front line with volunteer aid. In 2015, he volunteered for the front. In the spring of 2016, he was demobilized (discharged due to health reasons) and resumed volunteering. Serhiy returned from another trip to the ATO zone, delivering aid to volunteers in Shyrokyne. Two days later, on November 5, he became ill and was hospitalized. He died at the 1st City Hospital in Zhytomyr on the night of November 10 from an acute myocardial infarction.
