Serhii V. Konakov (Hilza)

Sergeant Serhii Konakov (call sign Hylza) was killed on April 2, 2023, while performing a combat mission in the area of the village of Novosilske in the Luhansk region. The defender was 38 years old. Serhii was from the village of Urozhayne in the Zaporizhzhia region. He lived in the village of Vozdvyzhivka. He graduated from the Melitopol State Pedagogical University named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky, where he obtained the profession of a history and geography teacher. For some time, he worked at the Vozdvyzhivka school. Later, he went to serve in the border troops, and then joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man fought against the occupiers in the ranks of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Koshovy Otaman Ivan Sirko. He participated in the defense of the Kharkiv region and then went to defend the East. In 2022, the fighter was awarded the medal "Defender of the Fatherland". "He was a true patriot. He dreamed of a daughter, but did not have time to hold her in his arms. He bravely stood for Ukraine, despite all the difficulties, until his last breath," said the deceased's beloved woman, Anna Yevtushenko. Serhii was buried in the Alley of Heroes of the Kushuhum cemetery in his native Zaporizhzhia region. The defender left behind a mother, a civil wife, and three children.
