Serhii V. Korobko (Sokrat)

Soldier Serhii Korobko (call sign Socrates) was killed on January 31, 2023, during an artillery shelling of the city of Vuhledar in the Donetsk region. The warrior received injuries incompatible with life. Serhii was 47 years old. He was from the village of Pantaivka in the Kirovohrad region. He first studied at school No. 17, and then obtained a law degree from the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University in Kharkiv. He served in the military in the city of Pervomaiisk. After returning, he started a business. He lived in the city of Oleksandriia in the Kirovohrad region. During the full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade to defend Ukraine. "He proved himself exclusively from a positive side, exemplarily performed his military service duties, and enjoyed the respect of his comrades. He showed courage and heroism, steadfastness and determination, and remained faithful to the oath and the Ukrainian people until the end," the Oleksandriia City Council said. "I am very proud of you! You will forever remain in our hearts," wrote his daughter Amaliya. The defender was buried in the military cemetery of Oleksandriia. Serhii is survived by a daughter and a brother.
