  Born on November 1, 1965, in the urban-type settlement of Chechelnyk, Vinnytsia region. Graduated from high school. On February 6, 2015, mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Served in the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0409, city of Novograd-Volynskyi, Zhytomyr region). Since 2015, participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. In June 2015, Lieutenant Korotan was injured (broken ribs) while on duty in the area of the city of Artemivsk (now Bakhmut) in Donetsk region. He underwent treatment at the Feofania Hospital in Kyiv, where he died on July 18, 2015. Buried in the cemetery of the urban-type settlement of Chechelnyk, Vinnytsia region.
