Serhii V. Kostenko

Senior Soldier Serhii Kostenko was killed on May 7, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the settlement of Khromove in the Donetsk region. The warrior was 46 years old. Serhii was from the Cherkasy region. He lived in the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi. He studied at the local school No. 5. Then he graduated from the Harbuzyn Vocational School No. 33. Since 2000, he has worked at a bread receiving enterprise. On February 26, 2022, on the third day of the great war, Serhii without hesitation joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the Motherland from Russian invaders. He served in the 30th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Kostiantyn Ostrozkyi. He held the position of a grenade launcher in the infantry battalion. He took part in battles in various hot spots. He fought the longest in the Donetsk region. "During his lifetime, Serhii was a cheerful, friendly, hardworking and sincere person. He had big plans for the future, but after the start of the full-scale invasion, he could not sit with his hands folded and went to defend his native land from the Moscow horde. During the entire period of service, he was at home only 15 days, and the rest of the time he carried out combat missions," the fallen's relatives said. The defender was buried with military honors on the Alley of Heroes in the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi, Cherkasy region. Serhii is survived by his mother, wife, son, relatives and friends.
