Serhii V. Kozyr

Born on July 10, 1974, in the urban-type settlement of Petrovo, Kirovohrad region. Graduated from the secondary school of the urban-type settlement of Petrovo. From 1993 to 1995, he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since 1996, he lived in the city of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. Worked as a loader at the Public Joint Stock Company "Evraz Sukhaya Balka" (city of Kryvyi Rih). On February 10, 2015, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a combat vehicle commander - commander of the 1st mechanized section of the 3rd mechanized platoon of the 9th mechanized company of the 3rd mechanized battalion of the 93rd separate guards mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces (military unit A1302 (field post V2830), urban-type settlement of Cherkaskoye, Novomoskovsk district, Dnipropetrovsk region). Since the spring of 2015, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On April 29, 2015, Senior Sergeant Kozyr was on duty at a checkpoint near the settlement of Pisky in the Yasynuvata district of Donetsk region. During a mortar shelling, one of the shells exploded under the soldier's feet. Senior Sergeant Kozyr sustained serious injuries. He was evacuated to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. On May 5, 2015, he was buried in the Glory Alley of the Central Cemetery in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region.
