Serhii V. Leonov

41-year-old shooter Serhiy Leonov was killed on September 1, 2022, in battle near the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk region. Serhiy was born and spent most of his life in the city of Kreminna, Luhansk region. He was a private entrepreneur, working for himself. The man was simple, polite, and very hospitable, loved to joke, and often smiled. He enjoyed cooking. In 2022, he moved to the city of Kramatorsk in Donetsk region. He got a job as a security guard and was renovating his apartment. However, a full-scale war began. In March, Serhiy joined the ranks of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar." He served as a shooter-sanitizer, and after combat training, he went to the front. During the war, he often cooked homemade food for his comrades. He constantly supported the fighting spirit of the guys who hesitated on the battlefield. On September 1, an enemy shelling began near Bakhmut, with adjustments being made using a drone. As a result of a direct hit from a shell into the shelter, Serhiy sustained severe leg injuries. It was not possible to urgently evacuate him from the battlefield, as the occupiers shelled the ambulance. When an armored vehicle arrived to evacuate the wounded, the soldier's heart had already stopped beating. The defender was buried at the Alley of Glory in Ivanivske Cemetery in Donetsk region. Serhiy is survived by his 12-year-old son and elderly mother.
