Serhii V. Matvieiev (FOX)

Sergeant Serhii Matvieiev (call sign FOX) was killed on December 26, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Ternі in the Donetsk region. The warrior was only 34 years old. Serhii was from Kyiv. In 2003, he graduated from school No. 286. In 2006, he obtained a mechanic's qualification at Kyiv Vocational School No. 1. In 2007-2008, he served in the military in Desna, where he was demobilized with the rank of sergeant. Since then, he had worked as a security guard in various companies, with his last job being at the ATB supermarket chain. On August 10, 2022, he became a serviceman of the 44th Separate Rifle Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took the position of senior rifleman in the rifle squad of the rifle company and went to defend his homeland. "Serhii was a very good and bright person. He helped people and was a good comrade. Everyone loved and respected him," said his mother, Halyna Fedorivna. The hero was buried at the Southern Cemetery near the capital. Serhii is survived by his mother.
