- 47-year-old teacher and serviceman Serhiy Misievych (call sign Sirko) was killed on October 30, 2022, in battles for Kherson region. Serhiy was originally from Chernivtsi region, studied at Chernivtsi National University named after Yuriy Fedkovych. A scholar, Doctor of Law, he taught legal theory, human rights, legal logic, and critical thinking at the law faculty. He participated in the Revolution of Dignity. Since 2014, he joined the war as part of the 28th brigade. After demobilization, he returned to teaching, but not for long. The man rejoined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this time under contract. During the full-scale war, Sirko continued to defend Ukraine from Russian occupiers. "They say the war takes the best... Serhiy Misievych was indeed one of the best students of the law faculty, later becoming one of the best teachers, and subsequently a Defender of his country. He faced many trials, from which he always emerged with honor, demonstrating the best human qualities. The life of Serhiy Misievych is the path of a true Patriot, a man of honor, a man of his word, a person dedicated to his cause," noted Chernivtsi National University named after Fedkovych. "A scholar, Doctor of Law, candidate of theology, intellectual, a true professor of Chernivtsi National University, demanding, principled, a specialist in religious law, an ascetic Christian who served for 32 years for the restoration and recognition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Bukovyna. Together with Metropolitan of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna Daniil, Serhiy represented Bukovyna at the unifying Council (December 15, 2018) before receiving the Tomos..." wrote Vasyl Boychuk.
