Serhii V. Serhiienko

31-year-old soldier Serhii Serhiienko (call sign Snake) died on July 12, 2023, while repelling an enemy assault in the Kreminna area of Luhansk region. He was considered missing in action until May 2024. Serhii was from the city of Hlukhiv in Sumy region. He mastered the construction trade at Hlukhiv Vocational School No. 15. He worked in his profession, engaged in well drilling. In civilian life, he had many hobbies, but above all, he adored fishing. On December 1, 2022, the man was mobilized into the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He held the position of a grenade launcher in the 18th Sloviansk Brigade. "My husband was kind, cheerful, sincere, responsible, with optimistic views on life. He always came to help, providing a reliable shoulder. He loved the family in which he grew up and was proud of it. He dreamed very much of a peaceful, happy future. Beloved husband, father, son, brother. Forever in our hearts. I love, I grieve... I miss him very much," wrote Yana Serhiienko. On May 18, 2024, the hero was buried at the Veryhinskyi Cemetery in Hlukhiv. He is survived by his mother, brother, wife, and daughter. Serhii Serhiienko was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
