Serhii V. Stolbtsov (Heohraf)

The TDF fighter Serhiy Stolbtsov (call sign Geographer) was killed on September 28, 2022, in a battle with the occupiers in Donetsk region. An enemy tank shell hit the trench where the defender was located. He received fatal injuries. The warrior was 34 years old. Serhiy was born in Novomoskovsk, Dnipropetrovsk region. He attended the local school No. 6. In 2010, he graduated with honors from the geology and geography faculty of Dnipro National University named after Oles Honchar. He worked as a geography teacher and headed the natural sciences department at the Dnipropetrovsk Information Technology Lyceum affiliated with DNU. Since 2014, he also worked at the European Gymnasium in Dnipro. He was a multiple prizewinner and a master of sports in powerlifting, a member of the "Bypass" club. With the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion, he joined the local TDF. He became a soldier of the 102nd battalion of the 108th separate territorial defense brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a shooter. Two weeks before Serhiy's death, he was appointed acting platoon commander, and documents were being prepared for him to receive an officer rank. However, they did not manage to complete this. “He was a talented teacher, loved by his students and respected by his colleagues. He was a reliable support and teacher for his comrades! A talented, intelligent person who loved life and respected those around him. He was a true and loyal friend and a devoted son of Ukraine!” — said his friend Tetiana. “The whole team's heart is squeezed with pain and sorrow over this loss. He was calm, balanced, knowledgeable, a professional teacher who was loved and respected by students and colleagues. An effective athlete in strength sports. Having the right to deferment as a teacher, he volunteered for the TDF from the first days of the war and later fought in the East,” wrote Serhiy's colleagues. The defender was buried in his hometown of Novomoskovsk. Serhiy is survived by his parents.
