Serhii V. Vaveliuk

Sergeant Serhii Vaveliuk (call sign Veva) was killed on January 21, 2024, in battle with the occupiers near the village of Ternі in the Donetsk region. The defender is now forever 31 years old. Serhii was born in the city of Shostka, Sumy region. He graduated from the Faculty of Physical Education of the Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University named after Oleksandr Dovzhenko. In peacetime, he worked as a physical education teacher at school No. 3 in Hlukhiv. He really liked this profession because he loved children and it was mutual. He played football and played for the local team. In 2018, the man signed a contract with the National Guard of Ukraine. During the full-scale war, he fought in the ranks of the 2nd Special Purpose Battalion "Donbas". He was a senior gunner. He took part in battles in the Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. "They took my little heart away, and I can't live without my little heart... His girlfriends are very sad for him," wrote the warrior's wife, Yana Vaveliuk. Serhii was buried in his native Shostka. At home, his parents, wife and daughter were waiting for him. The National Guardsman was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
