- Sergeant Serhii Zhyrnov (call sign Zhyr) was killed on October 18, 2023, near the settlement of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he received fatal injuries during enemy shelling. The warrior was 35 years old. Serhii was born in the city of Oleksandriia, Kirovohrad region. He studied at school No. 20. Then he obtained the profession of a manual electric welder at the local vocational school No. 7. He served his military service in the army and got married. Before the invasion, he worked as a welder at the Oleksandriia Plant of Lifting and Transport Equipment. When the full-scale invasion began, he could not stand aside, so on February 25, 2022, he went to the military enlistment office. Later, he joined the ranks of the 62nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of a gunner in the reconnaissance platoon. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended the Kherson and Donetsk regions. In the summer of 2022, he was awarded the honorary badge "Freedom Forever" of the 61st Brigade. In January 2023, the man was transferred to the Zhytomyr Training Center, where he underwent advanced training. In May 2023, Serhii went to defend the Luhansk region as part of the reconnaissance unit of the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade. "Serhii bravely and worthily defended his Motherland, was a patriot of his state, and defended Ukraine to the last. He is our pride! He worthily defended his state! Eternal memory and honor to the Hero!" - wrote his wife Yuliia. Serhii was buried in the military cemetery in his hometown.
