Serhii Y. Hordiichuk

Soldier Serhii Hordiichuk was killed on May 4, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Arkhanhel'ske in the Donetsk region. The defender was 37 years old. Serhii was born in Kyiv. His mother raised him and his brother alone. The boy studied well and played the guitar well. After school, he studied at the Faculty of Law of the Interindustry Institute of Management, but did not work in his specialty. He went into the trade sector. He held managerial and leadership positions, including as the director of an Eldorado store network. In 2018, he joined Nova Poshta. At first, he was an ordinary specialist, but quite quickly he rose to become the head of branch No. 316 in Kyiv. Serhii met his beloved Olesia in 2014 through mutual friends. The relationship developed very quickly, and after a few months the couple began living together. Two years later, a son was born, and later a daughter. During the full-scale invasion, Serhii received a summons and, although he did not have conscript service or a military department, decided that he would not hide. On February 29, 2024, he joined the army. After 2 months of training, he acquired the specialty of a shooter and was assigned to the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He went to defend the Donetsk region. May 4 was Serhii's first battle. He did not even have time to call his wife and tell her about the situation, about how he was doing in his new place. Five or six soldiers were sent to hold the position. The battle lasted for many hours, the positions were covered with everything that could be. Among the boys was one experienced fighter, he was able to evacuate three warriors alive. Unfortunately, Serhii was not among them. His comrades who survived told his wife about this. "Serhii's life was dedicated to work and family. He was an interesting, intellectually developed person. He could support a conversation on any topic, had diverse interests. He loved movies, books, communication. He easily understood technology and technology. All household problems did not concern me at all, I knew that Serhii would come home and do everything..." - said Olesia, Serhii's wife. "Serhii Hordiichuk was a man of character. Smart, sociable, friendly, able to organize the work. Of course, we have a difficult business and it requires a lot of attention from the manager. Serhii coped with the challenges, he headed the branch for quite a long time. We are grateful to him both for the years of joint work and for the courage to go and defend his country," added Maksym Hryb, director of the Nova Poshta branch. The defender was buried in his native Kyiv. At home, Serhii was awaited by his wife, son, daughter, relatives, friends and close ones.
