Serhii Y. Poliak (Varshava)

Soldier Serhii Poliak (call sign Warsaw) was killed on October 9, 2023, in the area of the village of Pryiutne, Zaporizhzhia region. The defender sustained fatal multiple shrapnel wounds in battle. The fighter was 36 years old. Serhii was born and lived in Kremenets, Ternopil region. In 2005, he obtained the qualifications of a car mechanic and electric welder at Kremenets Vocational School No. 6. He worked as a welder and went to earn money. In his free time, he loved fishing. He could fix anything. He made everything at home - the veranda, the canopy over the door, the shelves - with his own hands. He also knew how to draw well. On February 25, 2022, the man joined the ranks of the defenders and went to war. He served in the 105th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a 2nd category sniper in the sniper platoon of the fire training company. "My beloved is a real man, a volunteer. He was always brave and cheerful. The best husband and dad. My life was divided into 'before' and 'after' October 9, 2023. I would never wish anyone to feel the pain, the cry of a wounded beast, just the loss of a part of the soul. I want to thank my beloved husband for the happiest 5 years of our married life, and although we were together for a short time (either earning money or at war), I really felt and will feel loved, needed, important. I never regretted that you, my Serhiiko, are my husband, only now already in heaven. I thank you for our cheerful, intelligent and sincere son Artemko, whom I will try to raise as courageous and brave as you. I ask you not to forget the price of our peace and to honor the memory of the Heroes of Ukraine," wrote the wife of the fallen Iryna. The warrior was buried in the village of Velyki Mlynivtsi, Ternopil region. At home, his wife and son, who was 4 years old at the time of his father's death, were waiting for him.
