- Sergiy Kucherenko, a National Guard soldier, died in early January 2023 during battles with the occupiers near the city of Kreminna in the Luhansk region. The warrior was 31 years old. Sergiy was born in the village of Nevske, Luhansk region. After graduating from the local secondary school, he continued his studies in Rubizhne. In 2013, he was drafted into the National Guard of Ukraine. Since the beginning of 2014, when the anti-terrorist operation began, he signed a contract with the military unit where he had served conscription and was the first to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of his country. During his years of service in the 15th separate Sloviansk regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine, Sergiy proved himself to be a responsible and fair serviceman, a courageous and brave commander who conscientiously carried out the assigned tasks, earning the respect of his comrades-in-arms. He was awarded the chest badges "For Valiant Service" and "Defender of Luhansk Region". After the start of the full-scale invasion, the man was on the front line of his native Luhansk region from the first days. On April 15, 2022, during the defense of Rubizhne, he received his first wound, and on October 25, near Zarichne, he received the second one. "He never left the wounded and fallen comrades on the battlefield, sacrificing his life and health, pulling out his brothers from the very hell," the Rubizhne military administration noted. The defender was buried in his native Luhansk region.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
