Serhii Yu. Holovan

Sergiy Yuriyovych Holovany was born on May 24, 1984, in the town of Zolochiv, Kharkiv Oblast. In 2001, he graduated from the Zolochiv Evening Secondary School of II-III levels. In 2002-2003, Sergiy Holovany served in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After completing his compulsory service, he decided to dedicate his life to the protection of the state border. Over 20 years of military service, Sergiy Holovany, as part of border units, guarded Ukraine's eastern borders and established a positive reputation. Since the beginning of the full-scale military aggression of Russia against Ukraine, he has defended the integrity and sovereignty of the state in the Kharkiv region. On June 19, 2023, during the execution of another combat mission in the area of the village of Huriyiv Kozachok, the enemy shelled the border guards' fire position "Kovcheh." During the shelling, Sergiy Holovany sustained injuries incompatible with life. For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in the defense of Ukraine's state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and loyalty to the military oath, Staff Sergeant Sergiy Yuriyovych Holovany was posthumously awarded the "Defender of the Fatherland" medal.
