Serhii Yu. Ivanov (Kit)

Junior Sergeant Serhii Ivanov (call sign Cat) was killed on August 25, 2022, while defending his native Zaporizhzhia region from Russian occupiers. In September, the defender would have turned 43 years old. Serhii was born in Zaporizhzhia. From childhood, he was a multifaceted personality. He was passionate about literature, developments, projects, and crafted wooden products. He participated in theatrical productions. He loved miracles. He brought a good mood to those around him. He respected friendship, justice, order, and honesty in people. In the first days of the full-scale invasion, the man without hesitation left his job in Poland and returned to his homeland to defend it. Serhii joined the 112th battalion of the 110th separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended the Zaporizhzhia region. "He possessed all the qualities of a true man, father, friend, and defender of his country. In the first days of the war, without hesitation, he returned to Ukraine from Poland in order to protect his land and loved ones from the Russian invasion. Sincere and kind. With a big heart and a pure soul. The eternal memory of you will never fade!" - the fallen's friends shared. The defender was buried on the Alley of Glory of the Kushuhum cemetery in Zaporizhzhia. At home, Serhii was awaited by his parents, children, and friends. The hero was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
