Order "For Courage" 3rd Class

Біографія
Sergiy Petrov did not live to see his own birthday by just 18 days — on February 6, 2015, he would have turned 27 years old. A brave patriot of his native homeland, he died on January 18, 2015 (the day before the Baptism of the Lord) in battles for Donetsk airport, the defense of which lasted another 4 days. Sergiy was a private soldier in the ranks of the combined battalion of the 95th Airborne and the 93rd Mechanized Brigade — he was among those true Soldiers who were called "cyborgs" for their boundless courage and bravery. Sergiy was a Citizen of our state and he stood up to defend it as soon as the need arose. He told his friends that he simply could not act otherwise. Among his comrades, Sergiy stood out for his calmness, which sometimes surprised those around him — at times, it seemed to them that it was impossible to see the guy angry. He was simple, sincere, and kind, not very talkative, like every true man. Sergiy is remembered as a sociable and friendly person — he always tried to help his friends. As it turned out, behind this traditional composure lay considerable determination: he was initially not accepted into the army due to health reasons, so Sergiy joined one of the volunteer battalions. But he was not satisfied that the battalion was not actively participating in combat operations, and Sergiy managed to transfer to the regular army. Sergiy was a graduate of the Faculty of Social Sciences and International Relations of Dnipropetrovsk National University named after Oles Honchar. He graduated from the university in 2011 with a degree in "Political Science," and during his studies, he was most interested in the problems of political life in modern Ukraine, the socio-political development of his native city and region. In his thesis "Youth Political Leadership in Modern Ukraine: Problems and Prospects for Development," Sergiy tried to scientifically determine the prospects for political participation of the youth of Ukraine. Just a few years after graduating from university, he gave his young life defending the independence, unity, and statehood of Ukraine. We must always remember that Sergiy died for each of us, for our peace, for the tranquility in our home. Now his photo is placed on the memorial dedicated to the memory of graduates of Dnipropetrovsk National University — soldiers of the ATO, who died during combat operations in Eastern Ukraine. Sergiy Yuriyovych Petrov was awarded the highest honor of his native university — the honorary medal "For Faithful Service to DNU." POSTHUMOUSLY. Light memory…Військова служба
