Stepan V. Petriv (Pokymon, Pika)

23-year-old fighter Stepan Petriv (call sign Pokemon, Pika) was killed on April 28, 2023, while performing a combat mission near the village of Zvanivka in the Donetsk region. The defender received fatal injuries during enemy artillery shelling. Stepan was born in the village of Tserkivna, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He graduated from the Stryi Higher Vocational School No. 35. He worked as a driver for international transportation. He was passionate about technology and everything related to it. During the full-scale invasion, in April 2022, the man was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade "Edelweiss". He held the position of a rifleman. He fought in the Donetsk region. He had concussions and injuries, but courageously continued to defend his country. "The country is losing its best sons. Brother, you're a beauty, a role model for future generations," said the deceased's brother Mykola Shaban. Stepan was buried in his native village. He left behind three older brothers, a sister, other relatives, friends, and comrades-in-arms.
