Sviatoslav M. Cheberiak

49-year-old Sviatoslav Cheberiak was killed on March 5, 2022 near the Romanovskyi Bridge in Irpin, Kyiv region. After the start of the full-scale war, he joined the defense of the capital region. At the time of his death, he was together with the military in an office building. Sviatoslav Cheberiak was born in the Zhytomyr region. He dedicated over 20 years to the law enforcement system. He worked in the police of the Kyiv region. Later, he retired due to health reasons. He worked as a security guard. His last job was at the security and detective agency "Antiterror". With the start of the full-scale war, he volunteered. He participated in the fight against the occupiers. "Slava was a very cheerful, sociable person. He tried to help everyone who turned to him. He loved to play with children very much. We loved to relax in nature. We often went to the forest, to the embankment, to the Bucha park. Slava adored his youngest daughter. She was born after his 45th birthday. The difference between our children is 21 years, so the youngest got the most attention," said Sviatoslav's wife Viktoria Cheberiak. Sviatoslav's body was recovered from the rubble on April 12, 2022. His relatives buried him in Irpin. "After Slava's funeral, a man I knew told me that they had filed applications to join the Irpin TRO, but someone had lost them... The volunteers had to rewrite them. Since Slava had already was killed by that time, he was not on the lists. In the last photo he sent me on March 2, Slava was with an automatic weapon and tape on his sleeve. After his death, I appealed to the Irpin city hall. They replied that he was not listed anywhere. This is not an isolated situation for our city. Our men went as volunteers, was killed, and now we cannot find out anything," added Sviatoslav's wife. The deceased left behind a mother, wife, and children.
