- Captain Taras Shchupak (call sign Rybak) died on May 10, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Lukyantsі in the Kharkiv region. The defender was 50 years old. Taras was born in Lviv. He studied at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. In peacetime, he held various positions. Recently, he worked at a metal base. He loved his work, and even more so his family, to whom he devoted his free time. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man joined the ranks of the 125th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was the commander of a mortar battery. He received an award from the Ministry of Defense, certificates for courage, and the status of a participant in hostilities. "Taras was a very kind, sincere, courageous and wise person, a loving husband and father," said his wife Tetyana. The defender was buried in the Marsovoye Field of the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. Taras is survived by his wife, children and brother. The officer was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
