- Captain Umer Volkov was killed in action on March 6, 2022, defending positions near the town of Huliaipole, Zaporizhzhia region. Enemy artillery fire cut short the life of the 26-year-old officer. Umer was a Crimean Tatar, born in the town of Umer in Ukrainian Crimea. After school, he chose a military career. He graduated from the Military Academy in Odesa with a specialization in "Provision of troops with fuel and lubricants." After graduation, he was assigned to a military unit located in the town of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region. Since 2011, he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took part in the ATO/OOS in Donbas. He dreamed of returning home to Ukrainian Crimea.At the time of the full-scale war, Umer was serving in the ranks of the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was the head of the fuel and lubricants service. "He dreamed of returning home, to his native Crimea, was proud of his service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and especially in the Airborne Assault Forces. He had 29 parachute jumps and 11 years of service in the army. Since 2016, he was almost constantly in the ATO zone," said the officer's wife, Gulnar. "He was only 26 years old... Young, but incredibly sincere, a true patriot of his country. He left behind a wonderful family, a very small son... His mother Elvira, together with his younger brother, were forced to leave their Homeland and now live with our team in Turkish Eskişehir. We have come to love them very much. Already during our acquaintance, I understood why Umer was such a person... His mother is an incredible person, sincere, with a great kind heart, filled with love for everyone... We will not forget... We will not forgive..." wrote Anife Kurceytowa. The warrior was buried in the village of Ivonchentsi, Poltava region. The hero left behind his parents, Elvira and Memet, his brother Refat, his wife Gulnar, and his son Ametkhan.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
