Vadym H. Strilets (Medoid)

Senior Sergeant Vadym Strilets (call sign Medoid) was killed on August 3, 2023 in the Zaporizhia direction. In the Hulyaipilskyi district, he received a fatal injury. The warrior was 48 years old. Vadym was from the village of Zaitseve, Dnipropetrovsk region. By profession, he was a lawyer. He graduated from the Donetsk Institute of Internal Affairs at Donetsk State University. He worked as the head of the criminal investigation department of the Synelnykove city police station, an inspector of the "Sheriff" unit of PJSC "Agro-Soyuz", and an inspector of the State Agency of Fisheries of Ukraine. He loved tourism, family recreation, and was an excellent cook. Since 2014, he has been participating in the war in eastern Ukraine as part of the 74th separate reconnaissance battalion. From the beginning of the full-scale invasion, despite wounds and concussions, he continued to defend the independence of his country. He held the position of commander of the 3rd platoon of the rifle company of the 108th separate territorial defense brigade. He was awarded the badge "Participant of the Anti-Terrorist Operation", the award of the 74th separate reconnaissance battalion of the 1st degree, the award of the President of Ukraine "For participation in the anti-terrorist operation", the honorary badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "For excellence in military service" of the 3rd degree, the medals "For military service to Ukraine" and "For the sacrifice of blood in the battles for the freedom of Ukraine". "He was a loving husband, son, and father. An optimist, a positive person, he united friends and comrades around him. There are not enough words to express the pain of this loss... His last message will always be with me: 'Only the strongest go together to the end. Know: I'm with you to the end!'" - said his wife Valentyna Chycherina. Vadym was buried in his native village. He is survived by his wife, mother, son and sister.
