- 37-year-old staff sergeant Vadym Yaremchuk (call sign Moriak) died on January 22, 2024 in the area of the settlement of Kurdiumivka in the Donetsk region. While evacuating his comrades from the battlefield, he himself sustained fatal injuries. Vadym was a resident of Yuzhne (now Pivdenne) in Odesa region. He had dreamed of becoming a military man since childhood. He graduated from the police school. He served at a border outpost, guarding the sea borders. He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation. He had diverse interests: he was involved in sports, loved the sea, active recreation, travels with a music group during tours, and trips to the Carpathians. During the full-scale war, the man defended his country as part of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He fought in the ranks of the 3rd Luhansk Border Guard Unit. He held the position of chief inspector of the border service, head of the inspectors' department. During his service, Vadym was awarded the following decorations: "For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation", "15 Years of the Airmobile Forces of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" and the Order of Courage of the III degree (posthumously). "He was an honest and decent, caring son and grandson, a reliable comrade and friend, a benevolent and unrefusing person," his relatives said. The border guard was buried in the cemetery in Pivdenne. Vadym is survived by his parents Svitlana Mykolaivna and Mykola Ivanovych.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
