Biography
A touching photo "Alone with oneself," depicting an ATO fighter by the grave of his comrade, was taken accidentally a few hours after the burial of the soldier with the call sign Boatswain. This was reported by the author of the photograph, the press secretary of the Lyubashivka District State Administration, Anastasia Ivanova. The woman shared that she managed to take several shots on her tablet when she and her boss brought a wreath to the grave of the deceased fighter. "We arrived and froze in place — at the deserted cemetery, by the fresh grave, a young man was sleeping. The sight made not only my hands and legs tremble, but every cell of my brain. A chill ran down my spine… For the first time in my life, it was incredibly hard to take a photo: my head was spinning, the feeling of a lump in my throat made it hard to breathe, and through the tears, everything blurred before my eyes," Anastasia recounted. Later, the photographer learned from the widow of Vadim Matrosov that his comrade was sleeping by the grave of the fallen soldier. During the war in Eastern Ukraine, the fighter from Donetsk lost his parents, his family, and was left alone. He and Vadim (Boatswain) lived in the same dugout for 120 days and managed to become friends.Military service
