Vadym R. Shokot

Soldier Vadym Shokot was killed on June 7, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Dachne in the Donetsk region. During the artillery shelling, he shielded his comrades and sustained multiple shrapnel wounds that were incompatible with life. The warrior was 33 years old. Vadym was born in the city of Sarny, Rivne region. He obtained vocational education at the local vocational school No. 22. He worked as a driver, traveled abroad, and delivered luggage to various parts of the world. He had traveled almost all of Europe. Traveling became his passion. He loved to learn about the culture and way of life of different countries. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the volunteer formation of the community, served at checkpoints. Starting from April 2023, he defended Ukraine in the eastern direction. He was a driver of the 60th battalion "Polissya Wolves" of the 104th separate brigade of territorial defense. During his service, he was awarded certificates of honor and gratitude, as well as the medal "For Courage". "Vadym was brave, courageous, and a devoted patriot of his country. He always looked death in the eye with a smile and said: 'Who, if not me, should protect you'," said his wife Natalia Shokot. The fallen warrior was buried in the Alley of Heroes in his native Sarny. Vadym is survived by his wife, son, daughter, parents, and sister.
