Vadym S. Leleko

Soldier Vadym Leleko was killed on October 12, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. In November, the defender would have turned 27 years old. Vadym was born in the village of Shevchenkovo, Kherson region. From childhood, he lived with his family in the village of Mishkovo-Pohorilove in the Mykolaiv region. He graduated from school there. Later, he obtained the profession of a gas and electric welder at the Mykolaiv Vocational School. He completed his studies with a red diploma, as he was passionate about this work. He led an active lifestyle. In his free time, he was engaged in sports. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Vadym became a serviceman of the airborne assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 79th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade. He held the position of senior rifleman. "He was the best son. Sincere, caring. He loved life and people very much. He was a donor, he wanted to help others. When the war started, he sent me and my younger son abroad. And he himself went to the military enlistment office and didn't say a word to me. Our house was bombed... Vadym was calm and told his brother that he had to go and defend Ukraine, because otherwise he couldn't," the fallen soldier's mother said. The paratrooper was buried in the village of Mishkovo-Pohorilove in the Mykolaiv region. Vadym is survived by his mother Natalia and brother Illia.
