- 46-year-old territorial defense fighter Vadym Ihnatiuk was killed on September 8, 2022, while defending the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk region. Vadym was originally from Donetsk region. He graduated from Donetsk University of Economics and Law in Bakhmut. Since childhood, he had a passion for photography, which eventually became his profession. Since 2014, he had been engaged in volunteer activities and helped the Ukrainian military. With the onset of the full-scale invasion, he exchanged his camera for a weapon and stood to defend his native Donetsk from the occupiers. He joined one of the units of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "My beloved husband, my hero! You will forever be in our hearts... Eternal memory to you. You have endured the trial called 'Life' with dignity! You did not betray yourself: your dreams, your thoughts, your goals. You did not lose the honor and dignity to be called a Human, always spoke the truth (although many fear it)! You always fought for good and justice. You had no fear of Life! Every word of yours, every step you took towards good and light, was not in vain..." wrote his wife, Natalia. "This war is terrible, bloody, sacred… You bravely defended Bakhmut. You are invincible, honest, and forever in my heart. I did everything I could to get you what you needed. I'm sorry, I didn't manage to collect for the van for you. And I won't have time... The last package I sent you was delivered by Dasha because I couldn't. I remember I told her for some reason 100 times: 'Hug him.' For some reason, that was in my head. Then I got a call and was told that you were no longer here. I log into Facebook, I see — you were online an hour ago. Just an hour ago," wrote volunteer Yaryna Hordiienko. Vadym was buried at the Forest Cemetery in Kyiv. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
