Vadym V. Zakalistov (Vados)

Soldier Vadym Zakalistov (call sign Vados) was killed on April 17, 2023 in the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of a direct hit from a tank. Vadym was 36 years old. He was born in the village of Nova Vodolaha, Kharkiv region. He received a full secondary education at the local boarding school. Later, he enrolled in the Chuhuiv Professional Agrarian Lyceum, where he obtained the profession of a driver. In civilian life, he worked as a photographer. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he joined the defense of Ukraine, becoming part of the 127th separate brigade of the territorial defense. He held the position of driver-crew member. He was awarded the medals "For Military Service to Ukraine" and "For the Defense of the Hero City of Ukraine Kharkiv", and posthumously - the Order of Courage of the III degree. "My husband was a fearless person. Fair, always came to help, loved our family very much, cared for and adored the children above all else. We love and remember him, he is forever in our hearts," wrote his wife Alina. The defender was buried in his native village. At home, Vadym was awaited by his wife Alina, daughter Karyna, and sons Danylo and Nikita.
