Valentyn M. Kaliuzhnyi (Chizh)

Sergeant Valentin Kalyuzhny (call sign Chyzh) was killed on October 15, 2022, defending the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk region from the occupiers. In November, the fighter would have turned 44 years old. Valentin was born in the village of Panasivka, Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from high school. He served in the military. In civilian life, he worked as a welder at the agricultural company "Druzhba". He was married and raised two children. He loved to spend his free time with his family. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Valentin fought for Ukraine in the ranks of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodny Yar". He took part in battles in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. "I really miss my dad. I still can't believe he's not with us. I want other people to learn about him," said the deceased's daughter Kateryna. Valentin was buried in his native Panasivka. He is survived by his mother, wife, daughter, stepson, and two brothers. The defender was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, 3rd degree.
