Valentyn M. Porubanyi

Born on February 23, 1990, in the village of Torkiv, Tulchyn district, Vinnytsia region. Graduated from a general education school. Served in the mandatory military service in the 95th Separate Airborne Brigade of the Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1910, city of Zhytomyr). After the army, he worked in construction. In 2015, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 13th Separate Airborne Battalion of the 95th Separate Airborne Brigade of the High Mobility Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1910, city of Zhytomyr). From May 15, 2015, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On September 17, 2015, during a combat mission, the armored personnel carrier in which soldier Porubanyi was located hit a mine. As a result of the explosion, the serviceman sustained a severe concussion, head injury, and partially lost his sight. Valentyn Porubanyi underwent several surgeries, and his vision was restored. After treatment, he underwent rehabilitation at home. On December 6, 2015, in the city of Tulchyn, Vinnytsia region, a conflict arose between Valentyn Porubanyi and a former member of the Self-Defense of Tulchyn. During the conflict, the serviceman was beaten, resulting in a severe head injury (severe traumatic brain injury) and he fell into a coma. Valentyn Porubanyi was taken to the intensive care unit of the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Central Region (city of Vinnytsia). Doctors fought for the life of the paratrooper, but their efforts were in vain. On December 10, 2015, he died without regaining consciousness. On December 12, 2015, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Torkiv, Tulchyn district, Vinnytsia region.
