- Soldier Valentyn Sherenhovsky (call sign Batya) was killed on February 13, 2023 in a battle with the occupiers near the settlement of Krasna Hora in the Donetsk region. The fighter pulled out a wounded comrade from the position, applied a tourniquet to his arm, handed him over to the evacuation team, and then returned to the battlefield, where he came under fire. He did not live for two weeks until his 43rd birthday. Valentyn was born and lived in Berdychiv, Zhytomyr region. He studied at the local school No. 4. From childhood, he dreamed of becoming a builder. He studied at the Berdychiv Vocational Construction Lyceum and the Nemyriv Construction College. Later, he graduated with honors from the Lviv State Agrarian University. He worked within the walls of his native Berdychiv Lyceum, going from a master to the acting director. But after the reorganization of the school, he worked on construction sites. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Valentyn joined the Berdychiv territorial defense, and later became a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the ranks of the 30th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Kostiantyn Ostrozkyi. As part of the unit, he went through almost all the hot spots and was killed in the battle for Bakhmut. "He constantly cared for everyone: his relatives, students and even strangers. He was a bright, honest, sincere, kind person, every message he sent to the family, every his action revealed kindness. From the very beginning of the war, he voluntarily came to the military registration and enlistment office. Valentyn said: 'I'm here for the woman, for the children, for the parents...', joked that he would like the street to be named after him. I have never seen a person who loved his wife and children, parents so much. People only say one thing about Valentyn, that he is a golden person. When the farewell took place in the St. Barbara's Church, where Valentyn went with his family, the temple was completely filled with relatives, close ones, acquaintances and colleagues," said Anna, a family friend of the fallen. The warrior was buried in his hometown. Valentyn is survived by his mother, wife and two daughters.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
