Valerii A. Hnatyshyn

Soldier Valeriy Hnatyshyn was killed on July 8, 2023, while performing a combat mission near the village of Dibrova in the Donetsk region. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of enemy mortar shelling. On October 14, the defender would have turned 55 years old. Valeriy was born in the village of Preobrazhenska, Dnipropetrovsk region. He received secondary education. He was engaged in agriculture and farming: he sowed fields, planted sunflowers and wheat. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, on March 8, 2022, the man joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 4th separate tank brigade. Initially, he was a driver. In February 2023, he was transferred to the position of a shooter - a member of the machine gun crew, and together with his comrades-in-arms, he went to defend the city of Bakhmut. "My father, from the beginning of the full-scale military aggression of the Russian Federation, voluntarily and willingly participated in the defense of the freedom and independence of Ukraine. Although he was in poor health, had poor eyesight and sick legs," said Olena Hnatyshyna. Valeriy was buried in his native village. He left behind a mother, wife, daughter and son.
