Valerii I. Didok

Senior soldier Valeriy Didok was killed on June 9, 2023 near the village of Veselie in the Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission, the soldier received fatal injuries as a result of enemy mortar shelling. The defender was 28 years old. Valeriy was born in the village of Polytsi, Rivne region. He was the youngest of six children in the family. He graduated from 11 grades of a rural school and started working early. He lived in the village of Ivantsi. He had many plans and dreams for the future. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a fighter of the 8th separate mountain assault battalion of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade. He held the position of senior gunner of the grenade launcher platoon of the fire support platoon. "He bravely gave his life that day so that each of us could live in our country. I am proud of his courage and patriotism and consider Valeriy Didok a true hero," wrote the deceased's niece Anna Mohnар. "Young, smiling, a good comrade and the best only brother... Life and death are divided by a moment... Sincere condolences to the sisters and all the relatives of the deceased, strength to them to overcome the grief... May the soul of the fallen warrior find eternal rest, may the earth be soft, and the memory of the son of Ukraine live forever in our hearts. Eternal and bright memory to the Hero!" wrote in the Polytska community. "Hardworking, loyal comrade and helper," said fellow villager Ruslana Lesko. The defender was buried in his native village. Valeriy left behind sisters, nephews and nieces.
