Valerii I. Herasymenko

Soldier Valeriy Gerasymenko was killed on June 1, 2022, near the village of Zaitseve, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission, he received fatal mine-blast injuries. The defender was 55 years old. Valeriy was born in the village of Andriivka, Chernihiv region. He stuwas killed at Andriivka and Dorohynska secondary schools. In 1989, he graduated from Chernihiv Secondary Vocational School No. 9 and received the specialty of a watchmaker. In 2015-2016, as part of the 30th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Prince Kostiantyn Ostrozky, he took part in the ATO. In 2021, he returned to service under contract to his native brigade. He continued to perform combat missions in the area of the JFO. Valeriy met the full-scale war on the front line along with his comrades from the 30th OMB. The man held the position of a shooter-assistant grenadier and successfully destroyed the enemy, sincerely striving for victory over the Russian occupiers and the liberation of Ukrainian lands. "May the good, bright memory of the deceased defender remain forever in the memory of all who knew him, loved and respected him. May the soul of the deceased find eternal rest. Eternal memory to the Hero! Glory to Ukraine!", wrote the daughter of the deceased Olena. Valeriy was buried in his native village. At home, his daughter and other relatives were waiting for him. Posthumously, the warrior was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.
