Valerii M. Yakushchenko

Born on July 5, 1978, in the village of Novomykolaivka, Skadovsk district, Kherson region. Graduated from the general education school of the village of Novomykolaivka. Worked on the collective farm of the village of Novomykolaivka. Served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for mandatory military service. Resided in the village of Novomykolaivka. Worked in a private household. In March 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Served as a company sergeant in the 17th Separate Tank Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A3283, city of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region). Since 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. Served at the checkpoint "Stalingrad" near the urban-type settlement of Stanytsia Luhanska, Luhansk region. In July 2015, Senior Sergeant Yakushchenko sustained a severe head injury in the area of the urban-type settlement of Stanytsia Luhanska, Luhansk region. On July 9, 2015, during transportation to the hospital in the city of Dnipropetrovsk (now Dnipro), the serviceman died. He is buried in the cemetery of the village of Novomykolaivka, Skadovsk district, Kherson region.
