Valerii V. Ivashchenko

Born on October 10, 1992, in the village of Horodysche, Chudniv district, Zhytomyr region. In 2008, he graduated from the 9th grade of the general education school in the village of Tyutyunnyky, Chudniv district, and in 2011, he graduated from vocational technical school No. 30 in the village of Turchynivka, Chudniv district, specializing as a "tractor driver-machine operator." He served his mandatory military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 95th Separate Airborne Brigade of the High Mobility Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (now the 95th Separate Assault Brigade - military unit A0281, city of Zhytomyr). On March 26, 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a machine gunner in the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0409, city of Novograd-Volynskyi, Zhytomyr region). From spring-summer 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On July 11, 2014, the unit in which senior soldier Ivashchenko served was conducting a sweep of a military settlement in the area of the city of Oleksandrivsk, where a terrorist base was located. During a mortar shelling, the serviceman received a fatal shrapnel wound to the back of the head, from which he died. On July 15, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Horodysche, Chudniv district, Zhytomyr region.
