- Main Sergeant Valerii Kindzersky (call sign "Engineer) died on May 17, 2023, during the battles for the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. He was blown up by an enemy tripwire while leading his unit out of position. The defender was 49 years old. Valerii was born in the village of Pykovets, Vinnytsia region. He graduated from the local school and did his military service. He then obtained the qualifications of a gas and electric welder and an engineer at Vinnytsia Vocational School No. 5. For a while, he worked as an engineer in construction in Yalta. Since 2014, he volunteered to defend Ukraine from the invaders. He initially fought in the ranks of the Right Sector, and from 2016 he served under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation / Joint Forces Operation, underwent combat training in the USA and Germany. During the full-scale war, Valerii served in the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar". He was the commander of a motorized infantry platoon. For his courage and heroism, the defender was awarded many high decorations: the Order of Courage of the III and II degrees (the second one posthumously), the Order of the People's Hero of Ukraine, the medal "To the Unbreakable Heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian War", the medal "For the Defense of the Native State", the badges "Badge of Honor" and "For Exemplary Service" of the III degree. "Valerii was the best brother, son, father, and role model for us. He was a true leader and patriot for his people and state," said his brother Vitalii. The warrior was buried in his native village.
