    • Biography

      Volunteer. Farmer (grew grains). Head of the Krasnolymansky branch of the NGO "Prosvita". Was a member of an underground group, collected and transmitted intelligence data to the Ukrainian military at the ATO headquarters in the city of Izium. Openly opposed the pseudo-referendum of 2014, assisted the Ukrainian military at checkpoints with food, firewood, fuel for refueling vehicles, etc.

      Killed in action on May 7, 2014. In the evening of that day, four armed men in camouflage uniforms broke into the territory of a private residence in the village of Shandryholove, Lyman district, Donetsk region, forced Valeriy into his own Hyundai car, and drove him towards a forest strip. The next day, on May 8, around 1:00 PM, Kharkiv police discovered a burned Hyundai car in the forest strip of the village of Hrekivka, Kreminna district, Luhansk region, and inside it was a charred corpse, which relatives identified as the abducted Valeriy Sal.
