Vasyl H. Filozof

Military serviceman Vasyl Filosof was killed on November 7, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the Kharkiv region. Near the village of Pershotravneve, the soldier came under enemy rocket fire. He was 47 years old. Vasyl was born in the village of Velymche in Volyn. He graduated from Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, earning a degree as a physical education teacher. He worked in his specialty at the school in the village of Pidrichchia. In his free time, he loved to craft chairs, beds, and other items from wood. On February 24, 2022, on the first day of the full-scale war, Vasyl voluntarily went to the military enlistment office to defend Ukraine. He served in the ranks of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great. “From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the warrior fought for the integrity of our state's borders, for peace and tranquility on his native land. It is extremely hard to receive such painful news, as we understand that the lives of young, strong, and energetic people should not be cut short so prematurely, especially under such circumstances,” stated the Kamian-Kashyrsk community. “He was a person with a capital letter, always ready to fight for every acquaintance at the first opportunity, never indifferent, and always willing to help,” said the nephew of the deceased. Vasyl was buried in the main cemetery in the city of Kamian-Kashyrsk in Volyn. He is survived by his mother and nephew.
