- Main Sergeant Vasyl Korobeinyk (call sign Phantom) died on December 23, 2022, during the defense of the settlement of New York in the Donetsk region. He was killed by enemy tank fire. He died shielding two wounded comrades. The defender was 25 years old. Vasyl was born in the village of Velykyi Vistorip, Sumy region. From an early age, he was passionate about sports, chess, and other games that require logical thinking. Even in his school years, he stood out for his strong sense of justice. In 2014, he enrolled at the Sumy Center for Vocational Education. He chose the profession of boiler operator and electric welder. In his free time, he attended the "Griff" sports club, where he took a liking to weightlifting. In 2016-2018, he served in the National Guard of Ukraine. After demobilization, he had a great dream - he was preparing to enter the French Foreign Legion. In 2021, he went to work in Poland. But all his plans were disrupted by the full-scale war, so Vasyl returned to Ukraine. In April 2022, he joined the ranks of the 211th separate special forces battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a platoon commander. Together with his comrades, Vasyl defended the Donetsk region. "When the war started, the son was desperately trying to get back to his native home, but the village was under occupation. He didn't want to listen to any persuasion. 'Our freedom will end if the freedom of others begins!' he replied," his parents said. Vasyl was buried in his native village. The hero left behind parents, relatives, friends, and comrades. Posthumously, the military was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree and the "Golden Cross" badge. In honor of the defender, a street where his parents live was named after him.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
