Vasyl H. Plytii

Senior Lieutenant Vasyl Plytii (call sign Casper) died on January 15, 2024, while performing a combat mission near the village of Chaikyne in the Kherson region. The officer was 49 years old. Vasyl was a native of Brovary, Kyiv region. He graduated from the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture. In civilian life, he worked as a foreman in construction, a builder. He spent his free time with his family and loved ones. In May 2022, the man joined the ranks of the 808th separate Dniester brigade of engineering troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of platoon commander of amphibious transporters in one of the engineering units of the unit. He carried out engineering support tasks in the hottest areas of the front. "He was a wise commander, a reliable comrade, a true patriot of Ukraine, and had many plans for the future. While in the combat zone, he always dreamed of returning home with victory. Vasyl Hryhorovych gave the most valuable thing in the fight against the enemy - his life!" - wrote the officer's brother Petro. Vasyl was buried in the Alley of Heroes of the cemetery in his native Brovary. He is survived by his mother, brother, wife, daughter, son, and other relatives and friends. The military was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
