Vasyl I. Hrytskiv (Khuk)

Sergeant Vasyl Hrytsiv (call sign Hook) was killed on June 15, 2023 in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region. The defender was 55 years old. Vasyl was born in the village of Velykyi Polyukhiv, Lviv region. Immediately after finishing school, he joined the border guards. Upon returning, he worked in private security companies. He lived with his family in Lviv. Later, he graduated from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv with a degree in "Enterprise Economics". He was a passionate athlete, enjoyed skydiving, running, boxing, and swimming. He loved animals and flowers, and grew his own fruit orchard. In the first days of the full-scale war, the man went to the military enlistment office to join the ranks of the defenders of Ukraine. He became a serviceman of the 125th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took part in battles in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. "A person who has passed his earthly path with honor and dignity and has ended it in the same way - in the struggle for the future of children and grandchildren. My brother and I are proud to be called your sons and to bear your surname. Be sure, father, as long as our hearts beat, the memory of you will live on and we will pass it on to your grandchildren. Watch over us from the heavens. And until we meet again," wrote his son Rostyslav. The warrior was buried in the Mariyinsky Field of the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. Vasyl is survived by his mother, wife, two sons, daughters-in-law, grandson, sister, and two brothers with their families.
