Vasyl M. Bryzhatyi

Soldier Vasyl Bryzhatyi was killed on February 24, 2023 in the battle for the city of Vuhledar in the Donetsk region. He received fatal injuries on his first combat mission during evacuation on an armored personnel carrier. The defender's life was cut short by enemy artillery fire. The soldier was 40 years old. Vasyl was born in the village of Okny, Odesa region. He completed 9 grades at the local school. He served in the military. He lived with his family in Odesa. He worked as a painter-plasterer in construction his entire life. He had almost no free time, as he was constantly working and helping his wife with their child. During the full-scale Russian invasion, at the end of 2022, the man was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He underwent training. He fought in the ranks of the 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a rifleman-medic. "He was always smiling, cheerful, and had plans for the future. He was a very open person, had many friends and acquaintances. We miss him so much! The best," wrote the wife of the fallen Kateryna. On October 10, 2023, the soldier was buried at the Western Cemetery in Odesa. At home, Vasyl was awaited by his wife, son, relatives and friends.
