Vasyl M. Hrytsiuk (Anhlichan)

Senior rifleman Vasyl Hrytsyuk (call sign Anglichanyn), was killed on January 17, 2023 while performing a combat mission in the area of the village of Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region. At the beginning of January, the defender turned 22 years old. Vasyl was born in the village of Bodnariv, Ivano-Frankivsk region. After finishing school, he obtained the profession of a mechanic-auto mechanic at the Ivano-Frankivsk Higher Vocational School No. 13. He worked abroad, doing facade work with his friends. On the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion, on February 24, 2022, Vasyl decided to come from Estonia to defend Ukraine. At first, he was refused due to his age, but the guy did not give up. On June 27, he managed to sign a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He went to military training in England. After returning, he fought in the ranks of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade. "He was a friend that everyone could envy. Always sincere and open to loved ones. Cheerful and kind. Extremely brave. At the end of last year, he came home for the first time during his entire service to celebrate his 22nd birthday with his loved ones. During the celebration, he said that this was his last birthday. He told me and other friends that he would not return from the war." Vladislav, the best friend of the deceased, said. "The terrible and painful news once again shook our educational institution. Our student Vasyl Hrytsyuk was killed in a fierce battle for Ukraine. He was a bright, kind, sincere guy who dreamed of a bright and happy future. Vasylko will remain in our hearts and memory forever as a Hero!! Eternal memory," the page of Vocational School No. 13 noted. Vasyl was buried in his native village in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Vasyl is survived by his parents and brother.
